No More Dull MPVs, Redefining a Segment with the ZEEKR 009

2022 November 01, Wuzhen, China. The second model from premium electric mobility brand ZEEKR was officially launched today. The ZEEKR 009 is a six-seat fully electric vehicle designed for cool people and it’s an MPV.
//The Drive
ZEEKR promised the world No more dull EVs with the launch of the 001 in 2021, the 009 will redefine the MPV age with an entirely new way of thinking. This MPV is no mere baby mover or pet carrier.
Developed on the pure electric product architecture SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture), it is the world’s first vehicle of all segments to use CATL’s CTP 3.0 Qilin battery allowing the model to achieve a range of over 800km. With a 140kWh Qilin battery, the pure electric range of the 009 ME is 822 km (CLTC).
With silicon carbide technology, two e-motors combine to offer a maximum power of 400kW and achieve an efficiency of 98.5%, helping give the 009 an acceleration time from 0-100km/h in 4.5s and making it the only MPV on the market to reach the 4s club.
Balancing luxurious comfort and performance, an independent double wishbone front suspension and integrated multi-link all-aluminum rear suspension has been adopted. In addition, intelligent fully automated air suspension and CCD electromagnetic vibration reduction system is included as standard. Real-time smart adjustments can be made to the suspension of each wheel for maximum comfort and performance.
//The Tech
With intelligent technologies, ZEEKR aims to create the safest MPV in the world with its 6S6S safety concept of ensuring all six seats are safe. Through a suite of exterior cameras and sensors, a 720° safety zone has been created around the vehicle.
Intelligent safety is achieved through a “safe chauffer” driver assist system supported by Mobileye’s dual 7nm EyeQ5H high-performance chips, seven 8-megapixel HD cameras, four 2-megapixel surround view cameras, one ultra-long range millimeter wave radar, and twelve short-range ultrasonic radars. The powerful algorithm and sensing capabilities allow ZEEKR to safely offer its users more than 30 driver assist functions as well as help protect pedestrians and other road occupants.
A first in automotive production history, the 009 utilizes the world’s largest one-piece die-casted rear aluminum body (1.4m long, 1.6m wide) made in the world’s largest 7,200 ton die-casting machine, which reduces deformations in event of impact and increases bending stiffness. A two-stage detachable buffer structure is added to reduce post-collision maintenance costs.

Taking full advantage of the pure electric architecture, designers led by Stefan Sielaff at the ZEEKR Global Design Centre in Gothenburg pushed the frontier of MPV design.
Gone are the immense air intake grilles that dominated the traditional MPV face. What has replaced it is the world’s first smart grille. The “Spring of Light” face design is composed of 154 LED dot-matrix lights that can intelligently be programmed for different scenarios.
Moving back, the 009 adopts the largest aerodynamic windscreen in its class. Combined with the model’s sleek lines and triangular double A-pillar structure, the shape brings together form and function resulting in an ultra-low 0.27 drag coefficient.

Creating an intelligent luxurious mobile living room, the new model is empowered by ZEEKR’s 8155 intelligent cockpit system adding increased intelligence to interior functions. The 009 is the world’s first MPV with a digital TV ecosystem and multimedia suite based around its 15.6 inch five-way adjustable central ceiling screen that supports content streaming, wireless screen projection, 1080P HD video conferences, etc.
Offering users the best seats in the house, this MPV comes equipped with Sofaro first-class aviation cabin seats in the rear rows. The Soft NAPPA full-grain leather Sofaro seats are 70cm wide with a cushion thickness of 12cm. The seats also offer spa-class massage function with multiple massage options. Adjustments can be made to each seat on their smart armrests and for added practicality, each seat comes with an adjustable 585cm² hidden table.
The 009 comes with the industry’s first multi-modal interactive stereo system customized for MPVs. The ZEEKR OS provides users with seamless interactive experiences between ecosystems and screens as well as six independent voice recognition zones to facilitate user interactions with the vehicle AI. Independent sound recognition zones also facilitate communication through the world’s first in-car communication system (ICC) for MPVs. Passengers in the second or third rows can easily talk directly with those in front through the speakers with the ICC system.
Integrating luxurious performance as well as comfort into one model, the 009 represents a new benchmark for luxury MPVs. With many firsts in the record books, ZEEKR is defining the tone for future electric MPVs.
